Thursday already
I can’t believe it’s Thursday already. That means nothing to eat after 9pm tonight as I’m going to the eye specialist for my first eye operation tomorrow. The operation is called a parotid duct transposition or PDT for short. I’m told it is well-proven and I don’t need to worry. Of course, I am worried. That’s partly in case it doesn’t work as we’ve then run out of options. It’s quite expensive so it’s a very good job I have health insurance.
Before that I have a hydrotherapy session this afternoon, which if I’m honest I’m quite looking forward to. Only because I know Mum will take some really nice treats for me to enjoy if I do as I’m supposed to. Of course, it does me good too.
Important for Pebbles
Today is important for Pebbles too. Before the behaviourist tries any stronger medication with her, she wants to do what is called a ‘pain trial’. This will put Pebbles on medication to reduce inflammation and pain in case any of her behaviour issues are being caused by a health problem. Mum doesn’t think it is and has been observing her movement for any clues.
Mum’s biggest worry is that one of the medications is Gabapentin and Mum vowed she would never give that to a dog again after Alfie had an adverse reaction to it many years ago. It has taken a lot of convincing, not least by Dad, to get Mum to accept trying it with Pebbles. I know Mum is going to be very anxious about it but hopefully Alfie’s reaction was a one off.
Pebbles is also doing a DNA test as I told you. Mum is taking that today and posting it later at the post office near the vet. She’s just hoping she can take the swab without Pebbles eating it in the process. Good luck with that one!
