Cone free – Saturday 23rd August 2025

Cone free

Cone free – I’m cone free. At least sort of! As long as I don’t start rubbing my face. And as long as the wound stays clean and not opening up. That second point isn’t going entirely to plan, but Mum says we’ll see how I go. The weird thing was that as soon as the cone was off, all I really wanted to do was sleep. I don’t think I’ve slept properly since my operation and it has all rather caught up with me.

The other thing I did was to have a good romp around the garden. Oh boy, did that feel good. Mum has booked me in for my hydrotherapy, although not until a week on Thursday as that was the first free session.

Pebbles’ walks

Pebbles walk didn’t go quite so well yesterday. Mum had clean dungarees on and they were a stripy pair. It’s not the stripes that are the problem as it happens whenever Mum puts clean clothes on – Pebbles gets over excited. It meant that even before Mum showed her the lead, Pebbles was in an overactive state of behaviour. When Mum did show her the lead Pebbles was grabbing at it more than has been happening. Mum had to use distraction with Pebbles even on the way out on the walk. They did go a little further again, but Mum said it was hard work.

One piece of positive news was that for the first time ever, Pebbles managed to pause long enough to sit at the side of the road to wait until it was clear to cross. Mum says she’s going to focus on the win.

One week to go

It is now only a week to Mum’s party. I think we’re all going to need a holiday when it’s over. I’m tired just watching Mum. At least the weather doesn’t look quite as bad as she’d feared, but that could all change. I’m just going to find a quiet corner and stay out of the way while Mum carries on getting things ready.

Love and licks
