Sitting too close
I was sitting too close to where Mum was working in the garden. Sometimes that’s fine. Yesterday I hadn’t really thought it through. Mum was using the long arm to cut branches off a willow tree. One minute I was minding my own business and the next minute I was sitting under a willow branch. Fortunately, it didn’t actually hit me, but it took me very much by surprise. I sat at a safe distance after that. I could still see Mum, but sometimes touching distance can have its downsides.
Overexcited
Pebbles had a day of being overexcited. At one point that involved running round the garden like a crazy thing. Mum hoped that would calm her down, but it had the opposite effect and Mum had to give her a time-out. She’d already knocked Mum’s coffee all over a pile of papers, which hadn’t gone down well. After that, as Mum cut the branches off the willow and stacked them in a neat pile for shredding, Pebbles spent her time running off with the branches and leaving them around the garden. It was just one of those sorts of days.
Mum is desperately hoping that Pebbles will be calmer today for her physiotherapy appointment. They will have a walk before they go – although they had been for a walk yesterday just before Pebbles lost the plot.
This afternoon
If the weather is fine this afternoon Mum wants to carry on with the willow trees. I might stay inside and watch from the safety of the lounge. It’s warmer in there and there’s only so much time I need outdoors in winter at my age. I’ll leave the outdoor life to the youngster of the family – Pebbles obviously, not Mum.
Mum says we might start putting up the Christmas decorations. I might be prepared to go out to help her with that.
