Thunder stops play – Friday 15th May 2026

Thunder stops play

Yesterday was a case of ‘thunder stops play’. The fact that it kept raining every time we tried to go back outside didn’t help. Mum and Pebbles managed to do some more digging of the big vegetable bed in the morning. Mum came in tired and declared the only way forward is to use a rotavator. She is planning to do that next week. On the bright side, the fact that it’s raining after being dry for so long, will at least help her on that score.

At one point, Mum forgot she had taken her sweatshirt off and pulled out a very big stinging nettle. She remembered her sweatshirt pretty quickly, but by then it was too late and she’d stung her arm. Pebbles has been avoiding getting too close to what Mum is doing due to the thistles, so they make a good pair.

Rabbit ears

Now this is an odd one. Pebbles loves rabbit ears. Up until now all the rabbit ears she’s had have been white. Yesterday the one Mum pulled out of the pack was black. Pebbles wouldn’t eat it. She simply dropped it on the floor by Mum’s feet and walked away. It’s good news for all the black rabbits out there. You will be quite safe with Pebbles. If you are a white rabbit reading this, then I would stay well clear of our house.

Mind you, I’m sorry – but if any black rabbits visit then I might find you hard to resist. Even our lovely mild mannered Alfie lost his mind when Mum and Dad tried getting a rabbit as a pet for Andrew. The poor rabbit had to be returned before anything disastrous happened. On balance, if you are a rabbit reading this, I would stay well away from our house whatever your colouring.

Love and licks
