Teaching Pebbles
I’ve decided that the time has come for teaching Pebbles to write the diary. Years ago, Alfie asked both me and Aristotle to write some entries so that he could reduce his workload. Eventually we took over altogether. However, both Aristotle and I could sit still for the length of time it took to put our thoughts together. It’s much harder for a dog to type while moving constantly.
So far, we’ve established that she’s more a bullet-point type of dog, rather than one who thinks in sentences and paragraphs. It’s a start, but I’m not sure it will really work.
Favourite subjects
I also fear her favourite subjects may differ a little from mine. In between her running laps, I asked her to list the things she finds interesting. The list is as follows:
- Chasing pigeons
- Chasing next door’s cat
- Playing football
- Taking Mum by surprise
- Digging holes in the lawn
- Shaking her toys
- Shaking the cushions
- Jumping on Mum
- Head butting the vet
- Eating cheese
- Commando crawl when she should training
Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but she’s going to need to come up with a little more than that to write daily diary entries. Maybe I should get her to start with Wednesday entries so she can write about her training and then see how she goes from there. Mum has already said that as soon as the weather cools down a bit she wants to start taking Pebbles into some new situations and see if she can build up being able to cope.
One thing Mum needs to do first is to buy a smaller size of harness for Pebbles. The medium one with the extra straps would fit me very well, but with all her activity Pebbles doesn’t have an ounce of fat on her – unlike me!
