Bone – Tuesday 6th October 2026

Bone

Mum has given be the biggest bone I’ve ever seen. Dad was complaining about the number of bones lying around in the hall. Apparently, it’s not normal to fall over a pile of bones when you go inside the front door of a house. Mum said that anyone who liked dogs would completely understand and that if they didn’t like dogs then they’d probably come to the wrong house. I like her thinking.

Anyway, Mum did me a deal. As I’d largely lost interest in the bones in the hall, Mum offered me one new bone in exchange for two old ones. How could I refuse? I think I did rather well out of the deal and now want to take my new bone everywhere with me.

The problem with size

There’s just one small problem. It’s really quite heavy to carry around, so I’m best finding somewhere comfortable to settle down with it. I wanted that to be the big cuddle chair, but Mum drew the line at that and said I needed to keep it on the floor.

I took that to mean I could take it outside, but apparently it was only the inside floor that Mum meant. She can be so restrictive. I settled down on the kitchen floor, in the way of everyone and set about making as much mess as I could with it. That is of course part of the pleasure of a bone. That and just sitting gnawing away for hours on end.

Training

I’m off to my training class this morning. Mum has been cutting my cheese ready, which is always a good sign. Thankfully it’s another dry day forecast, so it should be fun. I’m in the mood to enjoy myself. What could possibly go wrong?
