Lights are on – Sunday 1st December 2024

Lights are on

The lights are on. Christmas is GO. If only it were that simple. Oh you’d have laughed yesterday as I traipsed around the garden with Mum, trying to help her remember where she’s put all the lights. They are all on time switches, if she’s got the settings right. Of course, she hasn’t and some stayed on overnight. Some are operated by remote control, but the batteries in the remote need changing. It meant finding each set of lights, remembering where she’d positioned the control box and pushing the right button.

You’d think she’d learn, but I regret to say we went through much the same procedure last year. Next year, I’m going to make a list for her as we go round putting them up.

Pillows

Mum loves the fact that I like having a pillow for my head. Apparently, I’m the only one of her dogs who has ever done this. To be honest, I find that strange. Doesn’t everyone like to make themselves comfortable when they go for a nap? When I joined Mum on the settee, I simply pushed the cushion that had been at the back of the settee, round to the side where I was going to put my head. Apparently, Mama Susi always used to do it and my sister Valeria still does it too. Clearly it’s a family thing.

Whilst I’m talking family, I want to send love to my sister Tosca as she’s just had an operation and is recovering. She’s twelve, so it’s harder to get through these things, but she’s doing ok. I’m looking forward to seeing her soon.

Getting prepared

Mum is getting prepared for our travels. Alarmingly, she has found the snow shovel and put it in the car. I really hope we don’t need it. I love snow, but I don’t fancy getting stuck anywhere. Mum told me about the time that she and Shadow broke down when the temperature was minus seventeen. I really don’t like the sound of that!

Love
