Expecting carnage
I’m expecting carnage today. Mum is a little more optimistic, but I think she may be kidding herself. Today is Pebbles’ birthday party with her brothers and sisters. In the end, we are expecting two of her brothers and one of her sisters – so four of them in total. That is four, very nearly one year old puppies – all of whom are around 24kg of solid muscle. They are due to arrive around midday, but which time I will have had my lunch and retreated to my safe place. I do not need to find myself in the middle of this.
Getting excited
Pebbles of course is getting excited. To be fair, she spends her whole life getting excited and it is as much as Mum can do to keep her civilised. There is one thing I’m feeling a little sorry for her about. She is shedding really badly and her coat is not at it’s beautiful best. Mum is starting to think it might be a side effect of the medication she’s on and if it is continuing after the weekend she’s going to talk to someone about it.
Getting Prepared
I’m having a quiet morning and leaving all the preparations to Mum and Pebbles. Mum will put some of the toys where she wants them and Pebbles will move them and most likely hide them. I have made sure that none of my toys are at risk of being played with. Not that I’ve got that many these days.
I will be on paw to help Mum with the food. That’s always an area I can be relied on to get involved. Dad is having the good sense to go out of the way for a while but he’ll be taking part in the party. His job is to keep order – good luck with that one!
