Swollen glands – Monday 15th December 2025

Swollen glands

Poor Pebbles has swollen glands in her neck. She isn’t complaining. Mum found them when she was having a snuggle with Pebbles. Admittedly Pebbles didn’t want to be outside so much yesterday, so she may be feeling a little under the weather, but her nose is wet, she’s bouncy and her coat is nice and glossy. Mum is going to ring the vet first thing this morning and take her for a check up. She did have an appointment with the behaviourist for Wednesday, but Mum is going to defer that until she is sure any health problems have been sorted out first.

Now we just hope that the vet visit goes ok – firstly from the point of view of how hard it is to examine Pebbles, but then we have to hope it’s nothing serious.

Vegetables

I helped Mum sorting out the vegetable beds yesterday. We cleared all the old tomato plants and the weeds, so we can see what is left to harvest. We have the biggest parsnips that Mum has ever grown. They stay in the ground until we want them. At the moment we’re trying to finish eating the squash before they go mouldy and are digging up the last of the potatoes. There seem to be loads of carrots. I looked at the veg bed wistfully and remembered the days when I could jump high enough to help myself if I felt peckish.

Greenhouse

Mum says our next garden job is to have a concerted effort to sort the greenhouse out and work out what we need to do to replace it. She’s said that before. It keeps being put on the ‘too difficult’ pile. I’m not sure I’m being much help with it to be honest. The prospect of a heated greenhouse that I could watch her gardening from does have its attractions on cold days.

Love and licks
