Pebbles is home
I am delighted to say that Pebbles is home. She’s still recovering and is quiet and subdued at the moment. I’m making the most of that. It’s amazing how many funny stories you can get from the vet for one short stay. She was only hospitalised for two nights, but that was enough for Pebbles to become a well-known character with the whole team.
Early in her stay, Pebbles had an x-ray to make sure the problem didn’t relate to a blockage. She had that under sedation. They rang Mum after doing the x-ray and the conversation ran like this. ‘She’s just coming round… Oh, she’s standing up already, she shouldn’t be doing that.’
A bright girl
The vet who discharged Pebbles was laughing at how bright she is. When they took her anywhere she could always work out if it was just a toilet break or if she was having something else done. Toilet breaks she was cooperative. Anything else she was suspicious and not keen to go along.
The funniest bit was that Pebbles worked out who was in charge of the team and decided they would be her human while she was there. That’s our Pebbles, nothing but the top person would be good enough for her.
At least they all fell in love with her, which certainly helps in coping with just how determined she can be. Of course, that grit and determination also helps her to get better. She is still on pain relief and pro-biotic and lots of TLC from Mum. It will take her a few days to bounce back but bounce she will.
At the moment, she is staying as close to Mum as she can – but Mum is quite happy with that too. And, on the bright side, so far I seem to be fine, so it may not have been a virus but something she ate. We’ll probably never know.
Love and licks
