Yorkshire Sculpture Park – Thursday 5th January 2023

Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Yesterday we went to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. All of us, even Aristotle. He only came for a little walk to see some of it and then said he’d sit in the car and wait for us all to enjoy a longer walk without him. It is a great place to stop. There is a charge for humans, but not for us dogs. I don’t think we’re supposed to go on our own though, so you might need to take your human along with you. The sculptures are huge. It was funny listening to Mum and Dad’s different views of them. Mum likes sculpture. Dad said he was just as happy with the trees. Then he had a long discussion about whether the seat was a sculpture of a piece of furniture and the conversation got a bit deep for me.

Lovely Walk

It is a lovely big area with paths around, as well as lots of grass. The ground was a bit wet and it was very windy, but Mum has said we can come back again when the weather is better. It’s only just off the M1 motorway, so very easy to get to and makes a great alternative stop for lunch instead of a service station. Obviously if you were only using it for that it would be a bit costly for a big family, but if you can take the time for a lovely parkland walk with interesting sculptures and some indoor displays, then it is very well worth a visit.

Favourite piece

My favourite piece was definitely the Love sculpture, because I could understand it. Mum preferred Henry Moore’s work. Dad liked the seat. Ari was just happy to be there and said it was all rather wonderful. We had a great time.
