Pigeon squab
We have a pigeon squab. While we were away last week it seems that Mr and Mrs Pigeon hatched their chick. There may be more than one, but when I looked up only one little eye blinked back at me. I’m hoping to get a better picture before they fly the nest in another four weeks or so. After that Mum says she will be able to use the garden bar and will have to clear out the whole nest. Apparently them nesting in the heater would be a fire hazard if anyone turned it on. That would be very disappointing after such a long wait to use it.
Meanwhile in the front garden we have a murder of crows since Mum cut the grass. She presumes it is because we have so many ants and now the grass is shorter the ants are much easier for them to get to.
Making myself sick
The biggest problem with spending so much time in the garden with Mum is then making myself sick at five in the morning. Mum says that much as she would rather I didn’t eat twigs, she’s glad that I give her warning and find a spot that is easy for her to clear up. She’s asked if I could refrain for a day or two as she needs a little more sleep. I guess it’s about getting a balance between how often I eat for the sake of it and how often I’m prepared for the consequences.
Measuring up
Mum’s sewing machine is out and she’s measuring up for the bed she’s making for me. She says she needs to cut out the material first and has said that would be easier without my help. I was only going to sit on the end of the material. You’d think she would be grateful to have someone holding it in place, but apparently not.
