Dear Aristotle – Thursday 1st August 2024

Dear Aristotle

Dear Aristotle, I don’t know where you go after you cross the rainbow bridge, but I have been thinking about you lots and wanted you to see what we’ve been doing in the garden. Maybe you can see it anywhere from wherever you are, but just in case you can’t, I asked Mum to take some photos to share with you here.

First of all I have to tell you about this year’s squash plants. We kept the seeds from the ones you grew last year. They couldn’t go in the normal place because Mum had to use that to store things and now it needs weeding – a lot! Anyway, I used one of the wooden vegetable troughs instead and they really like it there. I can’t believe how they are not trying to climb up all the surrounding plants. Some of those plants are weeds, so I’m not too worried about them.

The patio

Then there’s the wall you planned around the patio. We’ve filled the whole area with herbs that will discourage the flies and wasps and so far they’re doing really well. Some of them are plants you grew or helped Mum dig out before the building work began, some are ones you grew from seed. We did have to buy some of the others.

And just look at how well the lemon trees are doing now. I thought I’d killed them over the winter and was really quite upset about it. Mum taught me about feeding them and putting coffee ground round the bases to stop the ants and now they look better than ever. I do hope you like them.

Stumpie

Finally, this is one of my new pieces of wood in its new home so I can have stumpies. It’s not really big enough to sit on, but I can put my front paws on it.

I wish you were here to share it. I do miss you, but I’m doing my very best to look after your garden.

Love

Wilma
