An unexpected day
Pebbles had an unexpected day yesterday. Obviously, it wasn’t the day itself that was unexpected – we were expecting it to be Saturday and it was. It was how the events developed that came as a surprise. The plan had been that she would have her encounter with the outside world in the morning. Mum was going over to see Granny and then had to go to a couple of other places too. During that, the plan was for Pebbles to go out into the big wide world. Unfortunately at the first stop after Granny, Mum realised that the car tyre was so badly damaged that it was dangerous to drive on it. She had to go to the nearest place to get a new tyre.
Sitting in the car
The first place didn’t have the right tyre, so Mum went to the next place. They said the wait would be well over an hour. Mum explained that I was home alone and expecting her back and that Pebbles was sitting in the car. Fortunately, the man at the garage understood and was very sympathetic. Instead of waiting until one of the ramps was free to put Mum’s car on, he came out personally and used a jack to lift one side of the car and change the tyre. Mum said that Pebbles got a bit of a surprise when the car was being lifted up on her side. It wasn’t helped by the fact that Mum had forgotten to turn the alarm off. Pebbles had that to contend with too.
All resolved
Anyway, thanks to the lovely man they were back on the road in only forty minutes and came home to me before I was too worried about where my lunch was. Once Pebbles had got over her morning’s excitement, Mum took her for a walk down the little lane opposite where we live. They will go on lots of different walks, but that’s quite a quiet lane so Mum thought it would be a good place to start. Pebbles was completely unfazed by it all and is now looking forward to walking up into the middle of the village today. That still won’t be busy, but Mum is hoping they might meet some people and dogs on the way.

Love and woofs
