Running errands
Yesterday Pebbles was learning all about running errands. That meant she had some car time out with Mum going to different places and waiting while Mum did whatever she needed to do. Of course, that led to Mum reminiscing about when Alfie first moved to live with her and she drove a two-seater car, with him as her passenger. Of course, she was looking at it through rose-tinted glasses. I heard Alfie’s side about how difficult it became when he was really too big for the seat and there were parts of him which had a hand brake digging in quite uncomfortably. I didn’t bother telling Mum those bits. Nowadays, we just sit in the crates in the boot, which is less fun but probably more comfortable.
Grumbling
Pebbles still grumbles every time we go in the car. She kind of goes a bit crazy from time to time and tries climbing up the side of the crate and shouting to people outside that we are being held prisoner. I just cover my ears. I really have tried explaining that time in the car with Mum is far better than being left at home without her. At the moment that thought just isn’t registering with Pebbles. Mind you, yesterday she really was being devil puppy. I don’t think any of us could have done things right for her. Mum’s jumper has another hole in it. Mum was about to take Pebbles for a walk around parts of the garden she hasn’t been in yet, but sadly she lost that opportunity by being so mouthy.
Kennels Training
We have made our bookings to get Pebbles used to staying in kennels. It’s as much for emergencies as anything as we don’t tend to stay all that often. Annoyingly, I have to look after Pebbles for her first daytime visit while Mum goes to see my brother Salvo and niece Izzy. I said I’d rather go to see them, but Mum said that as I had wanted a puppy, the least I could do was help. I tried arguing that now I’d seen how much work it was I’d gone off the idea of having my own puppy completely, but Mum pointed out that it was a lifelong commitment and going off the idea wasn’t an option.
Our day isn’t for a couple of weeks anyway. Then we are doing an overnight stay with Mum picking us up after breakfast. Then we’ll have a whole weekend. I just hope I can deal with an annoying puppy for all that time.
Love and woofs
