Step by step

Step by step Pebbles is learning to do lots of the things that a normal dog does. What I mean is, that now she is calmer she can begin to enjoy things that she previously found difficult. Normally, we start going out in the car when Mum is doing errands right from early puppyhood. Pebbles didn’t cope with the car very well and was quite a danger to herself getting in and out, as she wanted to run away. Now, she is much happier to get in and the whole process is rather safer. When she is in the car she no longer screams blue murder, or tries to climb up the sides of the crate.

All that meant that yesterday, rather than stay at home twiddling her paws, Pebbles went out on an errand run with Mum. They were gone for just over an hour and had four short stops. During those times Pebbles stayed waiting in the car while Mum wasn’t far away. The good news is that Pebbles remained calm and happy and overall said she’d quite enjoyed the whole process.

Duvet day

Mum really wanted a duvet day yesterday, but we didn’t cooperate. She has asked us both, very nicely, if we might just let her stay in bed a little longer this morning. I’m writing this as quietly as I can so I don’t disturb her, but the problem comes when my tummy starts to rumble. I forget myself at that point and go to check if she’s awake yet. Even if I manage to stay quiet, once Pebbles hears me then she starts to bark in case we’ve forgotten her. How she thinks we could forget her I have no idea, but she does seem to think it’s possible. So today I’m quietly repeating to myself, ‘don’t wake Mum, don’t disturb Pebbles’. I just hope my tummy doesn’t rumble.
