Action Stations – Saturday 3rd January 2025

Action stations

It’s action stations here today. Tomorrow is Mum’s big family Christmas meal, so there will be fifteen humans here. Admittedly 2 of the humans are only a few months old, but actually I now find them the scariest of all. Mum will be cooking for thirteen… and two helps (us dogs). It’s a full Christmas meal, so thankfully that means turkey. I did ask if I’d be needed to serve drinks, but Mum says that will be Dad’s job, so I’m not needed. I shall probably leave Mum too it and then just help with the washing up. I’m really good at cleaning plates, although Mum does prefer to wash them for some reason.

Today’s jobs

One of the most important of today’s jobs is one I can help with. We will be going round to replace the batteries in the outside lights. Mum says this is the last time we will change them. She won’t take the lights down until the batteries fail again, but by then the lights will be getting quite a bit lighter and the world will seem a much better place. It is already fifteen minutes later for sunset than it was on the shortest day and that’s a good start.

Cleaning the house

The job that both Pebbles and I are opting out of is cleaning the house. Neither of us is actually scared of the vacuum cleaner, it’s just that we prefer not to be there when it’s turned on. I know that may be unreasonable. We are the ones who leave the dirt around, but we don’t actually mind the house being dirty, so it’s best to leave the cleaning to the humans. I don’t think they really mind. When I go round licking the floor to clean it, Mum still thinks it needs washing afterwards, so I can’t win.

Love and licks
