My missing bed – Thursday 10th October 2024

My missing bed

My missing bed has reappeared – well, one of them. I’m still missing one of my favourites but Mum says she knows where it is and it’s still in the storage unit we’ve got. The one that has reappeared was underneath several dust sheets that were protecting Mum and Dad’s bed. I think they may be just as excited about the fact they can have their bed back as I am about mine. Yesterday we took possession once again of our main bedroom. I wanted to sleep in it immediately and Mum said I was welcome to, but it’s going to take her a day or two to get everywhere clean enough for us all to move back in.

Curtains

It’s a good job it’s winter as the biggest problem is that at the moment the curtains are missing. They haven’t gone anywhere very far, it’s just that they will have been put in a box out of the way for safety and Mum may have forgotten to write on the outside of some of the boxes exactly what’s inside. She has asked me to sniff out the contents, but that’s easier said than done when some of them are in the loft and others are piled up so I can’t actually get around them all.

Lemons

Mum has a bit of a lemon dilemma. The temperature is forecast to go down to just one degree tonight. That is too cold for lemons. It seems a bit early to bring the lemon trees into the house. We may still have quite a few warm days ahead. She’s wondering whether they would be warm enough in an unheated greenhouse overnight for the couple of nights that are going to be cold but still above freezing. Then she could wheel them outside during the day until they are really ready to come indoors. I suspect she’s going to give it a go and cross her fingers. They aren’t awfully keen on central heating so the least amount of time indoors the better.
