Pin cushion
Yesterday I couldn’t decide if I felt like a pin cushion or a voodoo doll. One needle is bad enough, but yesterday was a paw too far. I may as well have booked myself in for a tattoo. First of all I had my annual vaccinations. Then I had my Librela injection for my arthritis and after that the vet stuck the kennel cough vaccination up my nose. Just as I thought it was all over, she came at me with a weird little pair of scissors.
‘Oh no,’ I said, ‘I’ve had quite enough. I’m out of here.’ Distressingly, Mum didn’t support my view and held me firmly in place. I admit that when the vet had removed the two stitches in my face, that hadn’t dissolved, I did feel rather better. However, I came out feeling as though I’d been used as a test subject in some weird trial. I’ll leave that one to the Guinea Pigs.
Hydrotherapy
I cried my way through hydrotherapy. Not because of the vet, but because Mum was holding pieces of cheese in front of me to encourage me to keep moving. This saliva gland for a tear duct thing is so inconvenient. I cry at the least opportunity of food. Mum is even offering me fewer treats to stop me crying everywhere.
On the bright side, we managed to achieve an awful lot with only one vet visit.
Pebbles’ walk
Pebbles had a local walk yesterday. She was crazy. You would think she hadn’t been out for weeks. She’d already spent several hours outside in the garden and Mum naively thought she might have a relaxed walk. No such luck. She was manic dog from start to finish and Mum’s lead hand is now rather bruised. Mum thinks that Pebbles is probably stronger than any of the rest of us has ever been. On the bright side, it is giving Mum very strong arm muscles!
