Digging is my job
It stands to reason that digging is my job. But there was Mum with a spade in her hands heading across the garden to plant a tree. The funny bit was that she was finding digging hard work. ‘Here,’ I said, ‘have one of the holes I’ve already dug in my pen. There’s one which must be almost deep enough.’ Apparently that hole was in the wrong place. As far as I’m concerned it’s in exactly the place I chose, but I guess I wasn’t thinking of planting a tree at the time.
To be fair, this is the third tree. Mum has already dug holes and planted the other two, but this is the biggest. It’s a pine tree. She’s already poked herself in the eye with the prickly bits and it took several days for her eye to stop hurting. I told her she should leave it to me.
Getting excited
I’m getting excited about my party on Sunday. I can’t wait to see my sisters. Mum has cut most of the lawn now so that it’s all ready for us to play. She says it’s to make it easier to find and clear up the dog poo, but I don’t think it’s just that. Freya and I haven’t seen each other for ages and I haven’t seen Raya since we were tiny. She will still smell the same though, even if her appearance will have changed a bit.
Mind you, I did quite a lot of getting excited about other things yesterday, until I was caught red pawed. Mum has bought some new food for me to try. She had taken the bag out of the box it came in but hadn’t put it away. I was only trying to help, but Dad assumed I was trying to get into the bag. Honestly! What does he take me for? Mum caught me trying to get into the delivery of rabbit ears later, so I guess he may have had a point.
