Surprise surprise
Surprise surprise – I’m home. I know I wasn’t supposed to be until later today, but we did the long drive yesterday instead. We started early, and there was nothing on the road so the drive through France went really well. We’d driven 200 miles and crossed the Channel by 11am. So Mum and I had a chat and she asked if I’d mind having longer in the car. If it was going to mean getting back to the apples – and Dad of course, then I didn’t mind at all.
Mum said something about a weather warning for today and thinking it was better to get back before it got too bad. Fortunately we only had one heavy spell of rain, so that didn’t slow us down too much.
Back to normal
Coming home was great, until we got through the front door and remembered all the building work that’s still going on. Mum had come back full of ideas of all that we could start doing, and had somehow forgotten the reality of the state of the house. Some of what’s been done while we were away is great, but the problem is that nothing is quite finished. Mum is going to spend some time today making a list of what needs to be done so we can get at least some rooms straight.
Kicking my heals
Being home is just not exciting compared with being away. I’m going to spend much of the day kicking my heals and wishing I was still back in Switzerland. Mum said she feels much the same. I’m hoping to go for a nice walk, but Mum says with an amber weather warning for rain, we might be having a rest day. Maybe tomorrow will be better and we can go on one of my favourite walks. Now I’m fitter again I really want to go back to the racecourse.
