Helicopter overhead – Saturday 4th January 2025

Helicopter overhead

There was a low flying helicopter overhead yesterday while Pebbles was on her own playing in her pen outside. Mum was gardening nearby and stopped to see how Pebbles would react. Yay for Pebbles. She simply sat and watched it flying over and didn’t mind a bit.

She had a good day in lots of ways yesterday. The number of peeing and pooing incidents indoors reduced dramatically. Mum said that is partly because Pebbles has at least understood that the aim is to do them outdoors. It’s also down to Mum learning more of Pebbles own needs.

Car travel

Car travel is still not going well. This is a problem Mum has never had with any of the rest of us. Alfie, Shadow, Megan, Aristotle and I always enjoyed being in our crate in the boot of the car and going out with Mum. Pebbles is fine as long as the car is not moving. Once you’re on the move she goes through periods of whining. Mum says she will simply keep taking her for short runs every day until Pebbles learns to settle. This could go on a long time.

Her new buggy has arrived but at the moment it’s sitting in a box in the hall. Mum’s next job is to build it and then take Pebbles around the garden in it to get her used to it.

Sleeping on her back

For the first time yesterday Pebbles decided to lie on her back to sleep. It’s a common position for us to choose, although not one I tend to go in for these days. She looked so funny lying there with her legs waving in the air as she was dreaming.

Pebbles is now the age that Alfie was when he first moved in with Mum and Dad and started writing his diary. Pebbles isn’t ready to start typing, but she said she might dictate a few lines to me over the next few days. It will be interesting to see things from her point of view.

As for me, I’m feeling very old just at the moment. I’m moving more easily, but the frenetic energy of a puppy has made me realise just how far in my past some of those behaviours are. I think I’ll cope better when she’s a little older.

Love and woofs
