Home alone
Yesterday Pebbles had her very first home alone time. Mum has got her used to time in a room on her own while we’re in the house with her, and she’s had some time in the house when Mum has been in the garden. However, when I went to the vet yesterday I asked if it could just be me and Mum and if it was possible for Pebbles not to come along for the ride. Mum said that now she’s nearly 13 weeks old it was time for her to get used to short times alone so we’d try it.

As my appointment wasn’t until late in the afternoon, Mum fed Pebbles and took her out then put her to bed. She closed the blinds and turned the lights off so that Pebbles might treat it a bit like night time. Mum started her sloth which has a heartbeat too, as a comforter. We were out for about an hour and twenty minutes. Pebbles was absolutely fine.
Checking in
Mum did use the Alexa at home to drop in and make sure all was quiet. It reassured Mum if nothing else. The camera wasn’t on, so she couldn’t see if all was well but the silence was a good sign.
Mum never leaves us for very long even as adults, but it is important that she can leave us at times without us becoming distressed. Teaching us to have alone time is always important.
My vet visit
My vet visit was for my arthritis injection, but since booking I’ve developed a problem with my eyes. The vet examined me and said that she wanted me to see their specialist, so I’m going back this morning. We know a few things it isn’t at the moment, but are less sure about what it is. The pressure is ok in my eyes, so it isn’t glaucoma and it’s not a return of my ulcer. I don’t have an abscess and it’s not conjunctivitis. It is possible it is something called Horner’s Syndrome, which both Ari and Alfie had at one time or another, but the vet thinks there may be something causing it, so we need to investigate further.
I’ve got my paws crossed.
Love and woofs
