Snails – Monday 28th April 2025

Snails

Snails are fun. You should see the look on Mum’s face when I pick them up and carry them off to the other end of the garden. It’s that moment when she realises that if she can’t persuade me to put it down voluntarily then she’s going to have to put her hand in my mouth to retrieve a snail. It’s worth doing to see her face whether or not I wanted the snail. I’m wondering about moving on to spiders, but Wilma says she’ll just let me eat those.

Bulls’ Pizzles

Mum gave me a bull’s pizzle yesterday. It was awesome. I do still like my ostrich bone, but I felt the need to chew on the pizzle until it was gone. That was something I really didn’t want to put down, in case Mum took it away. She did promise she wouldn’t, but you can never be too certain of these things. She seems to take a lot of things away from me – stones, snails, invoices, magazines, dad’s shoelaces, a little car off dad’s shelf – you know the sorts of things. I think it is Mum’s life mission to be mean and take away my latest prize. She seems to see it differently and suggests I should stick to the things I’m given, but I’m sure she doesn’t mean it.

My job

I have my first household job. I am now officially the recycling waste crusher. You should see what I can do to a plastic bottle. And apparently I’m better than any paper shredder will ever be. For one thing, Mum says she’s never known a paper shredder that eats some of the pieces to totally prevent anyone piecing it back together. She would prefer it if I only did that with paper she’d finished with, but then we all make mistakes.
