Not plain sailing
Well, it’s not plain sailing. Wilma is home and I am not. As you can tell by me writing, Wilma is still not well enough to do be here herself.
I had to get up early yesterday to come to kennels. When I was given my breakfast at 6am, my first thought was we were going to have some time to play before going. I was wrong. We’d left the house before 7am. Mum wanted to get back for the delivery of the continuous blood sugar monitor that Wilma needed. It was delivered around 10.40am and Mum took it straight to the vet. The morning report was that Wilma had wagged her tail for the first time, so Mum felt really positive.
Bringing Wilma home
Mum left the monitor for them to fit and then went back to collect Wilma at 2.30pm. By all accounts Wilma’s blood sugar levels were stable, she was drinking, bright and everyone thought she’d be fine. Mum weighed her before they left the vet and she hasn’t even lost much weight.

Mum began taking readings from the glucose monitor when they came home. They wanted an idea of what a normal pattern is so that Mum knows how long she can safely leave Wilma. Unfortunately, some of her readings are really quite low. Wilma also had some more diarrhoea. Wheni spoke to Mum she said it was even possible that Wilma would have to go back into hospital again.
I’m actually glad I’m not home as Mum is very stressed and constantly worrying about what she should do. Dad will set off for Switzerland today and Mum has said that he should make sure he spends a little time with Wilma before he goes, in case she doesn’t make it.
Mum has promised to ring me with regular updates, so I’ll be able to tell you what’s going on. For my part, I’m glad not to be wearing pants and I’m going to make the most of letting my fur down for a few days. Did I tell you I ate one of the pads out of my pants? Mum was really quite cross and says she doesn’t want me back at the vet. I guess I don’t want to go either.
