Results for Wilma

The vet rang yesterday with the results for Wilma. The good news is that although the lump removed was cancerous the tumour was low grade. If the vet has managed to remove it all, there is every chance of her recovering completely. The lab is doing further analysis to see if the whole tumour was removed with sufficient margin to prevent any regrowth and we’ll know more in a few days. If she gets any more lumps and bumps they will be tested to be on the safe side. It’s a good job it’s not me. I’m covered in lumpy bits, but mine just seem to be fatty.

Dieting

The other check she had was of her thyroid gland. That is perfectly normal, which means she simply has to work much harder to lose weight and doesn’t have a neat excuse. She is looking forward to getting back to exercising just as soon as she isn’t on crate rest. However, the vet has said she had to cut away some muscle in the leg, so Wilma could be quite sore for a while and needs to be careful.

Cheering Wilma up

Mum seems to be very focussed on cheering Wilma up and has booked her another trip to Switzerland. I don’t mind really. My travelling days are in the past and they always bring back my favourite biscuits. They are going to stay in a little apartment quite literally just around the corner from where Dad was staying out there. They know all the walks and it means they will be on Wilma’s mountain. Wilma is already counting the days off on the calendar even though she has other trips to enjoy before that.

As for me – someone has to look after the garden while they go swanning off, so I’m sure I’ll be fine.
