Paradise
Yesterday I visited an addict’s paradise but to be fair it was more a place of torture if I’m being strictly honest. After our lovely walk around the racecourse, which was every bit as good as I’d hoped, we went to find Dad.
Dad was visiting Hill Close Gardens. It’s a lovely series of hidden Victorian gardens just off the centre of Warwick. You might wonder why a dog thinks they are lovely. Firstly, I’m allowed to go in, which is always a good thing. Secondly, they are full – and I do mean full – of hundreds of apple trees both old and young but many different varieties. That’s why Dad likes going there so much. As for me – APPLES! Absolutely everywhere there are apples.
The Problem
The problem is that the gardens are well looked after and all the fallen apples are cleared up. Oh, there are hundreds, even thousands on the trees. But they are on the trees and I am on the ground. I sat quietly by Mum’s side looking up longingly and waiting for a good gust of wind. Sadly, it’s quite a sheltered location so I was disappointed.
I made up for it when I came home as Mum then went outside with Aristotle to do some gardening and I found a quiet spot to help with the clearing up of our fallen apples, which thankfully Dad hasn’t got around to clearing up this week.
Blue is the colour
In the meantime, Mum has, with me supervising, painted one wall of the office blue… and her hair… and the carpet… and her shorts. Apparently, it’s ok as most of the carpet won’t be used. Some good parts will be cut out of it to fill in where the hearth is coming out in the lounge, but it will be the non-blue bits that are used for that.
