Is she or isn’t she? – Friday 18th July 2025

Is she or isn’t she?

The question for today is ‘is she or isn’t she?’ And the subject would be Pebbles being in season. Mum found some spots of blood on the utility floor yesterday afternoon. Only Mum and Pebbles had been in the utility and for once Mum had not done herself any injuries. When Mum tried checking Pebbles there was no clear sign of where the blood had come from. There are no signs of injury and Pebbles will be nine months old in a week’s time, so there is a strong possibility she is in season. Mum will check this morning. I’ve got my paws crossed that she is as we’re all hoping she might calm down a little after having a season.

The downside

Of course the downside if she is would be that she’d have to miss yet more puppy training classes. She has already missed a month with Mum being ill and then going away. By the time she goes back her friends will all have moved on, which will be hard on Pebbles. Mum is at least well enough that she is back to doing training exercises with pebbles in the garden, which is better than nothing. Pebbles is really enjoying it, which is good news.

100 Herbs

Mum is reading a book of 100 Herbs to Grow. I have a horrible thought that she’s going to want to see if we can get to that number. We do already have quite a few, but nothing like 100 – not unless you count multiples of the same plant. We have an awful lot of rosemary, lavender, lemon balm and marjoram. I do like herbs. There is just so much to sniff about them, but my concern is where they are all going. I’ve asked Mum and she just shrugged and said we’d find room for them.

Love and licks
