Pebbles and the Model Railway
Why do I think that Pebbles and the model railway is going to end in disaster? On Saturday, Mum laid the final piece of track to complete the first full circuit of the track. That means that Dad can run a train around the track without it coming of the end. Mum and Dad were very excited about that. Unfortunately, so was Pebbles.

Present Pebbles with a moving object and her prey drive takes over. It doesn’t matter whether that moving object is a pigeon, an empty crisp packet blowing in the wind, a model train or for that matter Mum.
Will Pebbles’ training hold up?
This is where we find out if any of Pebbles’ training is effective enough to keep her in check. Pebbles, as with all of us, has been taught the command ‘leave it’. That means we should leave whatever we are showing interest in completely alone – and walk away! With me it works for pretty much everything, including the most gruesome of finds on a walk. Pebbles is still young. She also finds impulse control very very difficult.
So far, Pebbles has listened to Mum. She’s found it hard, but on balance she has taken her nose off the train when told to do so. I know she shouldn’t have had her nose on the train, but then neither should she have tried to jump into the railway room through the half-open window, especially when the door next to it was actually open. But this is Pebbles we’re talking about and things are never normal!
Fun Dog Show
Pebbles’ training club has a fun dog show coming up. Pebbles really wants to enter, but Mum isn’t free to take her. There is a category of best trick and Pebbles is quite certain she could win that. She’s less confident about ‘dog the judge most wants to take home’ which is hardly surprising!
