Bumbling through

Today we will be mostly bumbling through. Mum has had to go back to the dentist and that meant her leaving the house as six this morning. She took me out for a quick toilet stop before she went, but has now left Dad in charge. He needs to give us breakfast and our medication and look after us until this afternoon.

Dad’s first suggestion was that as he is a night person rather than a morning person, perhaps we could have our breakfast before he went to bed rather than when he gets up. He does not want to get up at seven this morning, which is our normal breakfast time.

Not going to work

Mum explained several reasons why that was not going to work. The fact I’d expect a second breakfast at seven this morning being an obvious one. He’s really very good at looking after us, but just not good at mornings. Mum has left me with a simple tick list so he can make sure everything is covered. I’m wondering if I can sneak an extra couple of lines for biscuits in between Mum’s writing. He would probably notice it was different handwriting but it struck me as worth a try.

Fortunately Mum should be home before our teatime, so if we’ve missed anything she will be able to sort it all out then. My medication can get pretty complicated and I deal with it every day.

In the garden

On the bright side, Mum actually finished building the compost bins yesterday. She also fitted the lock to the side gate. To our surprise both those jobs seem to have gone without hitch. Next on the list is repairing the shed roof, which she’s been putting off for ages. I can’t really help with that one.
