Analysing Pebbles

Mum is busy analysing Pebbles. One of the trainers, where Pebbles goes each week, recommended a book about roles dogs take within the pack. There is a workshop that Mum would have liked to take Pebbles to but isn’t free. Thanks to the hot weather, it is being postponed so Mum will hopefully go when it is rearranged. In the meantime, Mum is trying to understand more about why Pebbles does some of the things she does. It’s very interesting.

The trainer’s theory is that she is geared to test the competence of all those around her. Pushing and pushing to see at what point they break. It’s a bit like a quality assurance role. Mum when she thought about it equated it with the machines you see in some furniture shops. The machines replicate the impact of sitting on a chair, over and over again. They see how many times they have to do it before the chair is damaged by the process. Pebbles does something over and over to see how long it takes before we are damaged by the process. I can see the similarities. Now Mum wants to understand properly and learn if there is more we can do to encourage Pebbles, at the very least to take days off!

Heat stops play

There is one thing that stops Pebbles and that’s the heat. She really doesn’t like the heat and just finds somewhere to lie in the shade when she’s outside. That is until it’s bedtime. At around 8pm Pebbles asks to go out. It isn’t that she needs the toilet, but she has an urgent need of a game of football. Normally, she stops in her room before going outside. Then she selects one of her favourite teddy bears and takes them out to play ball with her. I’m not sure if they are supposed to be the goalie, but she always takes one into her pen. The runs around like a crazed mad thing, practicing her ball skills. After about ten minutes of frantic activity she happily trots back in for her bedtime fish and to be tucked in.
