Ferrets and Green Hair – Saturday 28th December 2024

Ferrets and green hair

You wouldn’t think that ferrets and green hair would be part of Pebbles’ socialisation plan, but you’d be wrong. When we took Pebbles to Pets at Home there was a man on a bike outside. He had green hair. He also had a rucksack pet carrier on his back with two ferrets with their heads poking out to say hello. Pebbles wasn’t the slightest put out by any of it.

She did enjoy going round choosing what treats she’d like. I sat in the car while all this was happening and was delighted that she’d chosen some bits for me too. I’ve been feeling somewhat left out on the chews front, so I was touched that she brought things for us to share.

Favourite games

So far Pebbles has four favourite games. In order they are: 1) hanging off Mum’s jumper by her teeth. 2) anything to do with Mum’s boots – including chewing, biting and sticking her head in them when Mum isn’t wearing them. 3) Digging holes in the garden 4) football. Only one of those is actually being encouraged. Mum says there are a lot of ways in which Pebbles reminds her of Shadow – digging holes is one of them. The rest of us weren’t diggers. As to the other games, Mum is teaching the commands ‘drop’ for Pebbles’ to let go of something she shouldn’t have. It’s working – except for the jumper. Mum is just going to have to wear something else.

Good day

Other than Mum’s jumper, Pebbles had a really good day yesterday. The previous day Mum had been a bit concerned as Pebbles had had one or two accidents, some much closer together than Mum would expect. Yesterday, Pebbles did herself proud. Not only had she been clean overnight, but she did really well right through the day. Mum was so pleased with her. She ate all her meals too. Mum thinks she might have been feeling a little off colour the day before, so it was good that she was back on top form.

Today we have family coming, including two three year olds. It is going to be chaos!

Love
