A quiet moment
Mum managed a quiet moment with Pebbles yesterday. If you don’t know why that is remarkable then you’ve never met Pebbles! When Mum tidied away the pen, she also put most of Pebbles’ toys away too. Oh they will all come out again in a few days, but the last thing Mum needed was Pebbles charging into the flower beds with her Boomer ball. Anyway, Pebbles being the girl she is, promptly made her own entertainment with anything she could find.
The first thing was an old plastic hanging basket. The basket itself was broken, so not a huge problem. However there was one poor lonely carnation flowering in it. By the time Mum managed to retrieve it, the carnation had been decapitated and Pebbles was looking very pleased with herself.
Bunting
Now Mum has put up some bunting. As far as possible she has been careful to put it about head height – her head, rather than ours. Anyway, what she hadn’t thought about was just how high Pebbles can jump from a standing start. Pebbles has taken it upon herself to see if she can grab a piece of bunting. Mum has had stern words with her and explained all the reasons it’s bad for her joints. There’s no good Mum pointing out it would be bad for the bunting, that would just be an added incentive to Pebbles. She hasn’t quite managed to get hold of it yet, but she is still trying.
Back to the quiet moment

All of which is why Mum never underestimates the occasional quiet moments she has with Pebbles. They had been working their way around the garden starting all the fairy lights that Mum has put up – they are on timers, so should now come on each day. Mum had been worried that Pebbles would try to bite through the lights, but she was very good and then sat down with Mum for a cuddle. It’s weird – you never quite know which version of Pebbles you’re going to find.
