It was not one of us
I cannot stress this enough, it was not one of us that knocked the arbour down. When I went out at lunchtime it was still standing. When I next went out, it wasn’t. In that time I have it on reliable authority that Pebbles had not been in the garden. Yesterday was a very windy day. As it turned out, the wind was gusting in exactly the right direction for the arbour to be blown over. It happened once before when we had what seemed to be a mini-twister go through the garden causing devastation, but this time it was just a gust of wind.

What to do?
Mum is obviously not happy. She has worked very hard to build the vegetable trough and knock something off our ‘to do’ list. When I had to tell her that she needed to add the arbour to the list, you can probably imagine how she reacted. Of course, we could just stand it up. Problem one is that it was a little ‘rickety’ after its last mishap. And problem two is that some parts have broken apart in being blown over this time.
Mum had already said that she didn’t think it would withstand another incident. And this clearly is an incident.
Waiting for Dad
Mum says it can stay exactly where it is for a few days until Dad comes home. It’s not the she is expecting Dad to deal with the problem, but she wants to discuss the options with him. That all seems quite sensible. In the meantime, I have to persuade Pebbles that this is not a new obstacle course built especially for her entertainment. With any luck, she’ll be too busy worrying about digging in the compost that Mum is trying to move to the vegetable trough, to have time to play on the arbour.
