A Much Better Day
Yesterday was a much better day all round. Pebbles went to her training class. Mum was thrilled that she managed a stay for 30 seconds. That is 10 seconds longer than she’s ever managed before. Ok, so by now she should be more than comfortable with a couple of minutes, but it’s important to judge her against her own capabilities and not what the rest of us managed at her age. She was also much better when Mum dropped the lead and didn’t look as though she was about to make a bid for freedom the whole time. Overall, Mum was very happy with how she got on and for once, when they came home, Mum didn’t look as though she needed a lie down in a darkened room.
My hydrotherapy
Then it was my turn. This week at hydrotherapy I was much more ‘in the zone’. Unlike the last couple of times, I remembered which paw should go where and what I needed to do. Mum took cheese, which of course was a strong incentive, but I’d have done well even without that.
My hydrotherapist measured each of my legs and the muscles have increased evenly by a centimetre on each leg. I wondered if it might be fat, but she was quite happy that I’d built muscle, so that was really good news too.
One little gripe
There was one little gripe later in the day. Our outside bar has a bench seat around the edge and a table in the middle. I sit on the floor. The floor is wooden, dry and quite clean and comfortable. Pebbles is an altogether different dog. Dad was sitting on one side and Mum on the other. Pebbles sat on the bench by Dad for a cuddle and then wanted to get to Mum. Did she climb down to the floor to go to the other side? No. Did she walk around the bench seat? No. Pebbles being the dog she is, deftly climbed onto and across the table to get to the other side. Then she decided she liked doing that, so ran back and forth a couple of times for good measure.
There’s always something.
