Therapy dog

Pebble is a therapy dog in her own unique way. Mum says, there is never a day which goes by that Pebbles doesn’t make her laugh. If laughter isn’t the best medicine I don’t know what is. Told to get off the revolving chair she was currently spinning on, Pebbles deftly leapt across to the reclining chair. She then sat so sweetly gazing up at Mum that Mum had to give in and give her a cuddle. Told to leave her bed in her crate, Pebbles simply picks something else up to carry outside and add to the pile. Given any opportunity to go outside she will search her room until she finds the right one of her toys to carry outside with her. Always the same order and no other toy will do, but the one whose turn it is.

Sitting quietly

Then of course there is her approach to training. When it isn’t Pebbles’ turn to do an exercise, she doesn’t bark. She doesn’t stand and watch to learn from the dog already working. Pebbles either commando crawls along the line to one of her friends, or rolls on her back with a ‘look at me’ expression on her face.

She might be badly behaved, but she can do more tricks than most dogs and has the goofiest grin.

They say that every dog and owner are paired for a reason. I can only think Pebbles was paired with Mum to bring her lots of laughter. I think Mum was given to Pebbles as she really needed a human who would never give up on her, however crazy she is.

They will never have the sort of bond that Mum and I have, but then I probably wouldn’t like it if they did. Every dog is different, just as much as every human.
