Children at play
Honestly you’d think we had children at play, the way Mum and Dad are arguing about their railway. They’re enjoying themselves, at least I think they are. It’s just that they both have ideas about how everything should be done and they don’t always agree. Pebbles and I are taking very different approaches to what they are doing. I am staying in the house out of the way. They can tell me about progress when they come in. Pebbles has mastered the art of completely ignoring them. The funny thing is that while Pebbles doesn’t sleep the amount a dog is supposed to sleep, and she rarely settles anywhere, she now has two favourite places.
One place is my cuddle chair, which Mum sits in with her in the evening. Mum spends time sitting with me too, so I don’t mind too much. The other place is Mum’s window seat in the railway room. Despite the fact that Mum and Dad had a difference of opinion on how things should be done, Pebbles was actually sound asleep and had to be woken to come back indoors.
Real children
Today there will be some real children here. I think Dad’s hoping they might want to play with the railway with him, but I’m not absolutely sure. It will all be too peopley for me, so I shall stay well out of the way until everyone has gone. Pebbles has asked if she could possibly be part of proceedings and I think Mum has said yes, but only for some of the time. She will need to be on her lead too so she doesn’t knock either Granny or any of the small people over in her enthusiasm.
I shall just wait to see if there are any vegetables left at the end of the meal, and then offer to help clean up.
Love and licks
