My trip to the specialist
Even my trip to the specialist on Tuesday had its funny moments. Overall, it wasn’t so funny and I’ve got shave patches all over the place. They needed to get sterile blood samples to give any certainty whether I have an infection in my spine. They needed to give me extra sedation for some of the tests, so by the time Mum picked me up I was singing to everyone in the waiting room. That wasn’t actually what made the day funny for us, although it did keep the waiting room laughing.
I won’t get the results of the tests until next week. I also have to wait for the original surgeon to review the CT scans next week to look at where the plate has moved. Mum has the rest of the report so far, and it doesn’t make happy reading. It seems I have a number of different issues rather than one. That makes it much harder to fix.
My bill
Mum paid my bill and then they gave her a printout. We had been charged for me being tested for Brucella Canis. That is something you are only at risk of in certain circumstances or if you have visited particular countries. I haven’t. The vet has a very clear list on it’s web page and I most definitely have not visited anywhere that is listed as a risk.
Mum wasn’t happy and queried the charge. The answer we were given was that an email from our local vet said we had been to Barbados. Me! Barbados! Now I’m a un loving dog, but never, ever have I been anywhere as exotic as that. My homeland of Switzerland is the furthest I’ve ever been and that has no seaside at all.
Whilst we may never find out how the error came about, you’ll be pleased to know that the charge was cancelled off my bill. I’m going to put the money towards saving up for a seaside holiday, but it still won’t be to Barbados.
Love and licks
