Gardening day
Today is going to be a gardening day. As long as the weather is better than it has been, Mum says we’re going to spend most of the day outdoors. She seems determined to make a start on some of the autumn pruning, as well as grass cutting and getting the weeds out. I think she’s planning to be quite ruthless with some of our trees and hedges this year as they are just growing so quickly.
As long as things go to plan, Mum says she will also try to mark out my play area so we can measure just how big it ought to be. Having looked at astroturf, she seems to think we could lay it ourselves and if we do that it won’t be too expensive, which is very exciting. I’ll try to get some photos of what the area looks like now as a starting point.
Aristotle’s collar
I’m wearing Aristotle’s collar at the moment. Because I’ve lost so much weight, I managed to pull my collar off over my head. Mum went to make it smaller and put it back on and realised just how dirty it was. I’d been doing my best to build up the dirt layers without her realising. Anyway, she insisted on washing it immediately and told me to find another collar to put on in the meantime. I found several in the cupboard that I liked, but as Ari’s old one had a tag on with the right details, except for the name, it seemed like the best option. It was Alfie’s before Ari had it, so it has some nice associations. I’ve wondered about asking if I can just put my tag on this one and keep it. Originally it had a pattern of Swiss flags on it, but they’ve faded with previous washes. This is a very good reason why things shouldn’t be washed!
