Fed Up – Saturday 23rd May 2026

Fed up

I’m absolutely fed up. The sun is shining and I want to sit outside in the shade. Sadly, because I wouldn’t resist the urge to mooch around the garden and even skip a little now and then, Mum can’t let me do that. Instead I am stuck in my crate in her office. Please don’t get the wrong idea. It is a very big crate. I can still get up and move around and there would be room for Mum if only she’d try. She is taking me around the garden on my lead several times a day, which is better than nothing. It does mean I can see what progress she’s making.

The vegetables

I have to say, even without my help, the vegetables are coming on. Pebbles helped Mum plant the tomatoes and the courgettes yesterday. They got some of the squash plants in too, but Mum hasn’t quite finished weeding the big veg bed, but she’s almost there. I was pleased to see that the potatoes I helped plant are all coming through and the carrots and parsnips are looking good too.

I can’t believe I’ve got to do this for the next six weeks. Crate rest in the winter is one thing, but in the summer it is a real pain. Anyone got suggestions to stave off the boredom? It was ok until some of the painkillers wore off. I don’t mean I was in too much pain, but they made me drowsy. It’s being awake and bored that’s the problem. Mum gave me a frozen Kong earlier. That helped. The problem is that she doesn’t want me putting weight on, so says I can’t have too many. It’s no win all round. Except for Pebbles. She wins – she gets more of Mum’s time with me out of the way. She is the only one in all this who is happy!

Love and licks
