Spring and Slurry’s in the Air – Wednesday 27th March 2019

Spring and Slurry’s in the Air

Well it’s definitely spring and slurry’s in the air. Yesterday was not a day for spending large amounts of time in the garden. They were either spreading the slurry in the field opposite the house or the wind was blowing in an unfortunate direction. Even I didn’t think it smelled good out there and that really is saying something. This is one of the downsides of living in a real village. Oh don’t get me wrong, the upsides far outweigh the price. Yesterday we also had to endure Shadow barking excitedly as the local wildlife population had moved into the front garden. We had a rather grand looking male pheasant and a pair of red-legged partridges strutting around the garden and helping themselves to food at the bird table. Shadow was beside herself!

Then there were the ducks

We went off to swimming and Shadow was telling me all about how she could have brought that pheasant in without any problem. Then we got home and the pheasant had gone but there were a pair of ducks in the garden. Oh you should have heard her asking to be let out of the car to get to them. She really does need to relax more. It was the same while we were actually at swimming. She was under the impression she needed to be on guard while I swam. Every time my hydrotherapist clapped to encourage me, Shadow was on her feet asking where the problem was. Our Mistress had an awful job persuading her to be calm.

New Friends

Wilma was happy because she made a new friend on her walk. She had a great time trying to get a slightly confused terrier to chase her. The terrier’s owner was concerned about the terrier’s behaviour but she had nothing to worry about and Wilma can look after herself anyway. Our Mistress had taken the ball thrower but the farmers were working where she was going to use it so Wilma will have to wait for that pleasure.

Have a great Wednesday
